The "standard drink" has been in the U.S. Dietary Guidelines since 1985\. The excerpt published last Monday (July 31) from my book, *From Pariah to Mainstream*, incorrectly said DISCUS hired a scientific advisor who "sold" the Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee on the standard drink concept. In fact, she played a critical role in retaining the standard drink in the *Guidelines.*
