# Diageo Said to Seek Sale of All Beer Brands -- Except Guinness

Big companies require big brands, and only Guinness is big enough to remain in the **Diageo** portfolio, Axios said, citing sources with knowledge of the matter. Among the brands affected: put **Smithwick's, Kilkenny** and **Harp Lager**, based in Ireland, **Tusker** in Kenya, among others.

Why? Except for Guinness, they are a dra aren't profitable enough. Beer sales represented 14%of Diageo's total sales at Diageo, while spirits sales contributed a mammoth 81%.
