[**Four Roses**](https://www.fourrosesbourbon.com/?ref=bevnews.net) **Distillery** is introducing **Experimental Series No. 003: Chestnut**, a limited-edition release that explores the distinctive flavors chestnut wood can bring to its signature bourbon.

The third installment in Four Roses’ Experimental Series, this release pairs its six-year-old OBSK recipe with Japanese chestnut wood barrels, creating a rounded and creamy palate, with notes of vanilla bean, pear and ripe cherry, complimented by sweet, toasted wood and hints of baking spice. The bourbon is bottled at 104 proof and brings new depth and complexity to Four Roses’ classic flavor foundation.

Master Distiller **Brent Elliott** transferred Four Roses’ mature bourbon into 250-liter chestnut barrels with varying toast and char levels, sampling each barrel throughout the finishing process. To carefully capture the distinct chestnut wood essence and maintain the balance of the bourbon, the team tested and emptied the barrels individually when each reached its ideal flavor profile, with finishing times ranging from 5 to 11 weeks.

Experimental Series No. 003 will be available beginning November 20 exclusively at Four Roses’ visitor centers in Lawrenceburg and Cox’s Creek, Kentucky in a 375ml bottle for $55, making it a timely find for bourbon enthusiasts and a unique addition to holiday celebrations.
