The foreclosure auction of financially trouble Signorello Estate. the 49 year old winery, was delayed until two weeks at the request of American Ag Credit, a borrower-owned cooperative that finances agriculture businesses, to which Signorello Estate owes $37 million.

Signorello was the first winery confirmed to have burned down in the 2017 Atlas Fire. Rebuilding took seven years owing to permitting delays, the pandemic, tariffs and the wine crisis. Those delays doubled the cost of rebuilding to "north of $30 million," more than twice his original estimate. Because of the delays and rising costs, he had to increase the amount of his loan. The result: American AgCredit increased the interest rate on the loan to 12.6% in 20243 from 4.75% in 2018.

Ray Signorello had tried to no avail for more than a year to find a borrower.

American AgCredit plans to meet Signorello at the winery for the first time since the rebuilding on Friday. He told the San Francisco Chronicle he doesn't know what American AgCredit plans.
