## [It’s one of Napa’s most historic wineries. Can this stunning makeover bring back its glory days?](https://www.sfchronicle.com/food/wine/article/beaulieu-vineyard-winery-visitor-center-22315420.php?utm%5Fcontent=hed&sid=62705f37b65b2dfb8a01cb9e&ss=A&st%5Frid=a9bc61ce-7561-4926-b264-64e5273d694f&utm%5Fsource=newsletter&utm%5Fmedium=email&utm%5Fterm=headlines&utm%5Fcampaign=sfc%5Fmorningfix)

Earlier this month, Beaulieu’s tasting room closed in anticipation of the July 13 unveiling of its new 15,000-square-foot visitor center next door. Beaulieu has moved back into its original 1885 stone winery, which, after an ambitious two-year transformation, reflects the vital role the brand played in Napa’s rise to global prominence: A Napa Cabernet Sauvignon pioneer founded in 1900, Beaulieu was once one of Napa’s most distinguished wineries, led by California’s most venerable winemaker, André Tchelistcheff; Beaulieu’s signature wine, the Georges de Latour Private Reserve, first released in 1940, was a benchmark for Napa Valley Cabernet and one of the most collected American wines.
