After insisting he would not remotely consider any bill to raise the national debt ceiling if it included any conditions to cut Federal spending, President Biden Monday apparently came to realize that at the moment it was the Democrats – not the Republicans – who were being pictured at the people who would imperil the nation's credit rating as well as payments to Social Security recipients and military members.

So, Biden invited Speaker McCarthy to the White House for talks.

The invitation came soon after Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen warned the U.S. Government appeared likely to breach the debt ceiling potentially as early as June 1.
