Chateau Buena Vista in downtown Napa, Calif., and JCB Tasting Salon in Yountville were closed within the past month. Chateau Buena Vista is part of Jean-Charles Boisett's Boisett Collection, which includes not only winery estates and brands, specialty food markets and luxury goods.
Esther Mobley of the San Francisco Chronicle describes their tasting rooms as being "known for their flamboyant design, typically featuring a combination of red velvet, leopard print, marble, mirrors and crystal chandeliers. In addition to wine, they offer caviar and chocolates, as well as perfume, jewelry and crystal glassware, and they frequently host elaborate, themed soirées, such as Gatsby, James Bond and Barbie parties."
The clozures follow similar actions by Constellation Brands and Duckhorn. More closures in California Wine Country are expected this year as the wine industry continues to struggle.
