Busch Light Offers Free Solar Cookers in Colorado
The cookers are being touted as a flame-free way to leverage the rays of the sun to enjoy a cooked meal outdoors with fire safety in mind. A limited number of the Busch Light solar cookers are available for FREE at select fire departments across Colorado every weekend from Aug. 17 through Labor Day.
In announcing the initiative, Busch Light (Anheuser-Busch) noted that 890% of forest fires are caused by humans, and many of those are attributed to poorly attended or extinguished campfires.
Colorado is home to some of America’s most at-risk lands and has been especially hard hit as four of the last five largest forest fires in the state have taken place in the past five years.
“The impact of forest fires has been devastating to America’s great outdoors, with the threat continuing to increase each year. As the beer brewed for the great outdoors, Busch Light feels an obligation to contribute to the conservation of our nation’s tree-lined vistas from the threat of forest fires,” said Krystyn Stowe, Head of Marketing, Busch Family Brands at Anheuser-Busch. “By making the Busch Light Solar Cooker freely available and accessible to Coloradans this fall season, we hope to directly decrease the number of fires caused by humans, ensure people respect no-flame laws and provide education on the ingenious ways to safely enjoy and protect the great outdoors.”
For those outside of Colorado or unable to get their hands on a Busch Light Solar Cooker, the brand has partnered with Top Chef alum Carrie Baird to provide solar-cooked meal inspiration with a Busch Light-infused recipe that can be made fire-free through the use of any outdoor solar cooker.
Busch Light also pledged a cents-per-case donation in Colorado now through September 15th to support the reforestation efforts of its valued partner One Tree Planted. Busch Light teamed up with the nonprofit earlier this year and asked fans to “Save a Tree, Pee in a Busch” by using the limited-edition reusable Pee in Busch funnel kit. The campaign sought to raise awareness for the importance of leaving no-trace in nature and disposing of waste properly with 100% of proceeds donated to One Tree Planted.
