Correction

The "standard drink" has been in the U.S. Dietary Guidelines since 1985.  The excerpt published last Monday (July 31) from my book, From Pariah to Mainstream, incorrectly said DISCUS hired a scientific advisor who "sold" the Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee on the standard drink concept.  In fact, she played a critical role in retaining the standard drink in the Guidelines.
