The objective is to "win with our customers and consumers and return to growth," said Rahul Goyal, who became Molson Coors' new CEO earlier this month. The cuts represent about 9% of the salaried workforce in North America.
Hundreds of the cuts were already open as a result of the company's prioritization efforts earlier. The move follows Molson Coors eliminating the chief commercial officer role.
"We are moving quickly and intentionally on a long-term, achievable strategy that continues our journey to become a total beverage company and that we believe puts us on the path to sustainable growth. We look forward to sharing more detail on this strategy in the coming months," he said.
