TTB Seeks Comments on Combining 2 Wine Reports

Alcohol & Tobacco Tax & Trade Bureau regularly sees excise tax reports that don't match the gallons reported as "removed taxpaid" on their 5120.17 reports, even though they should.  This is a problem TTB proposes to solve by simply combining the two Form 5120.17 report and the excise tax report.

TTB says it believes the mismatch isn't intentional on the part of most wineries, but rather is a result of lack of training that the two reports are directly interconnected and a lack of understanding of how to complete the excise tax report.

Comments are due June 2.  For details, see Comment Request No. 89 in the April 3 Federal Register.
