UN Says Plum Brandy is a Cultural Heritage

United Nations added sljivovica – Serbia’s traditional plum brand (also known as rakija) – to its list of intangible cultural heritages as a cherished tradition to be preserved by humanity. In an incredibly meaningful moment for the Balkans, the plum rakija has received well-deserved World Heritage Status for this prized cultural tradition.

Generally unknown in the US and Britain it has been part of the cultural fabric of the Balkans.
