We suspect this is much adoo about nothing. Colorado media are breathlessly reporting that Eagle Rock Distributing Co., which recently agreed to merge into Southern Glazer's Wine & Spirits has notified the State of Colorado that it will permanently lay off all 514 employees on June 5.

We suspect this is simply a pro forma notification and few, if any, of the workers will actually lose their jobs. Instead, given the fact that SGWS has promised there will be no interruption in service to retail accounts, those being terminated by Eagle Rock as a result of the acquisition will simply be placed on the SGWS payroll. WE asked both Eagle Rock and SGWS to confirm that, but they haven't had time to respond.
