The legacy of Jerry Luper

Jerry Luper, who now lives in France, had an awful lot to do with the early days of California wine through the Judgment of Paris.  What the Judgment of Paris "did was open doors to be able to sell more wine. It's as simple as that, really just a distillation of a phenomenon that was happening all around the country from consumers' standpoint: wine drinkers, who were interested enough to hear about that tasting and who had drunk French wine all their lives, decided to start trying California wine. You know, the ripple effect was really, really amazing,” he says. (Napa Valley Register)
