Young Cannabis Users Drinking Less

Sixty percent (60%) of cannabis users have cut back on alcohol consumption in the last 20 years, according to a study by Cowen Inc., the international investment bank.  Earlier reports linked easier access to cannabis to higher alcohol consumption.

The report shows the percentage of marijuana users who also drink has fallen from 90 to 79 percent between 2002 and 2020 while the percentage of 18- to 25-year-old drinkers who also use cannabis has gone up from 25 to 32 percent
