Bev/Al Labels in Ireland to Provide Nutrition, Health Risk Information

You can expect anti-alcohol advocates to push Congress and regulators to follow Ireland which became on Monday (5/22) the first country to mandate that alcohol beverage labels list calorie and health-risk information for consumers.

Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly said "packaging of other food and drink products already contains health information and, where appropriate, health warnings. This law is bringing alcohol products into line with that.”

The industry will have three years to bring its labels into compliance.
