How Molson Coors Plans to Lead in 2027

Molson Coors Beverages has a new strategy that "frees us from only managing the up and downs of the industry to actually leading," Rahul Goyal, president/CEO, told the annual distributor meeting. To do this, he said the company will:

  •  invest “more and differently” behind its core brands, in addition to stepping up investment against fast-growing brands like Topo Chico Hard, Fever-Tree, Monaco, and Peroni to accelerate their performance.
  • invest more behind its value brands.
  • get closer to consumers and customers. The marketing team has had more than 70,000 conversations with current and potential fans

He noted that consumers don't think about 'product segments;' they think about occasions. What they choose at a baseball game might be different from what they reach for at a backyard barbecue, on a night out with friends, or while relaxing on the couch. They think about the occasion where they may want a drink – with and without alcohol – and to feel part of the occasion, whatever that might be.

So Molson Coors is going to do some acquisitions, and expand into new occasions by innovations like Keystone Light Apple, lean into Miller Extra Light, build momentum behind Fever-Tree and welcome Monaco into its Beyond Beer portfolio.

It has developed a new creative platform for Coors Light that will debut in 2027, and Miller Lite's Legendary Moments campaign will evolve.

It's going to focus more on social media. Marketing chief Sofia Colucci noted the company is now the most viewed, liked and shared beer company on TikTok.

Collucci said messaging will seek to drive home what various brands stand for. Peroni, for instance, is for American drinkers embracing the Italian lifestyle at home. Miller High Life will have a new campaign celebrating its history as the Champagne of Beers.
