John Vicini, founded Trecini Winery, Dies at 74

He was born in Jera, Italy, and working as an architect when he moved to the U.S. at age 29 in 1979, settled in Sonoma County.  He became a cook at The Villa, an Italian restaurant in Santa Rosa owned by his uncle, for 12 years.

In 1994, he founded Vicini Vineyards, a 12-acre property in the Russian River Valley, where the family grows Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir.  Six years later he established Trecini Winery in Santa Rosa.

Celebration of life, 1 p.m. Sunday, March 19, at the Friedman Event Center, and a Funeral Mass 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 20, St. Rose Catholic Church, both in Santa Rosa.
