Little Change in French, Spain Wildfires Impact on Vineyards

Thankfully, there were still no reports of vineyards or wineries in Bordeaux being destroyed by the massive wildfires there. The New York Times ran a piece painting the despair of some winegrape growers in the Bordeaux region, one of whom produces 25,000 bottles a year. He said he was on the verge of giving up. He has been beaten down by a combination of drought, heat waves, weak sales because of changing drinking habits and President Trump's tariffs on French wine.

The smoke reached his vineyard. Burdened by debt and climate-related challenges, the vintner said this year would be his last. “This year, it feels like we’re on another planet,” he told The Times.
