We the Wine People Documentary on Apple TV

WE THE WINE PEOPLE, a new feature-length documentary from filmmaker Chrisa Giorgi, will be released on Apple TV Sept. 15, bringing the story of Virginia wine to a national audience.

Filmed across more than 30 vineyards and about 40 production days throughout Virginia, the documentary follows winemakers, growers, researchers, sommeliers and industry leaders working to define the identity and future of one of America's most dynamic wine regions.

Rather than focusing solely on vineyards or tasting notes, "We the Wine People" examines the forces shaping Virginia wine from the inside: climate adaptation, sustainability, grape research, hybrid varieties, the revival of Norton, industry diversity and, above all, collaboration.

"I began thinking I was making a film about Virginia wine," Giorgi said. "But the deeper I went, the more I realized the real story was the people and the way they work together. The question became less about whether Virginia can make great wine and more about what kind of wine region Virginia wants to become."

The title deliberately echoes "We the People," framing Virginia wine as part of a broader American story – one rooted in centuries of ambition, experimentation and reinvention.
