Fine wine is now featuring more prominently and more aggressively in client portfolios, with a third of U.S. wealth mangers and advisors saying their clients now dedicate between 21%-30% of their total wealth to fine wine, a significant increase from 2025 levels.

That's according to a new survey from WineCap, a fine wine investment platform.

Over 81% of investors view wine as a “safe haven” asset, citing its role as a global, borderless investment that remains independent of traditional currency fluctuations and interest rate hikes.

“For years, fine wine was seen as an exciting yet niche option for connoisseurs, but in today’s climate of geopolitical and economic uncertainty, perceptions have shifted, says Alexander Westgarth, WineCap Founder/CEO.

"The fact that 97% of wealth managers – whose success depends on navigating volatility – are bullish on fine wine is a testament to its unique mechanics of resilience. We are seeing a return of liquidity and a sophisticated investor base that values wine not just for the cellar, but for its role as a critical fiscal anchor”.

The report also highlights the role of technology and sustainability in driving future growth. Two-thirds (67%) of wealth managers believe AI will be the primary catalyst for market transparency, while 55% of investors now cite ESG credentials as a decisive factor for entering the market. As the investment climate remains challenging, fine wine’s appeal as a globally transportable, supply-constrained asset continues to professionalize, leading more wealth managers to seek specialized partnerships to ensure high-quality access and price transparency.
