Young With a Passion for Wine? Here's a Winery for Sale
Spyglass Ridge Winery is for sale. It's not your typical Central Pennsylvania winery with, maybe, a tasting room. No. Over the last 25 years, Tom and Tammy Webb have built an operation that produces wine and canned hard soda, a restaurant and a Celtic festival that evolved over the years into one that brings big-name acts such as ZZ Top and Styx, Foreigner, REO Speedwagon, Pat Benatar, Rick Springfield to Sunbury, Pa., for summer concerts that draw as many as 7,000 people.
Why is it up for sale? Their two daughters “have decided to follow their own dreams and careers rather than owning and operating a massive business like Spyglass.”
And there's age. Tom is 64, figures he has 10 great years of hiking, and other fun thing. He has a private pilot's license and wonders how long he will pass a physical. And, "along the way, we lost some amazing friends and family and gained new ones every week. As we keep losing people in our lives, it makes a person realize that we are only immortal for a limited time."
