Bev/Al Stocks Top Dow Industrials' Stunning 3.03% 1 Day Advance
Nine of the 10 largest publicly traded alcohol beverage stocks beat both the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the Standard & Poors 500 indexes in trading yesterday.
The explanation for the outperformance weren't had to find. Investors expect changes in President Trump's tariff regime along how immigration laws are enforced would help an industry dealing with weaker U.S. demand.
If the Democrats are able to successfully address some ot the other affordability issues – especially healthcare and fuel prices – that would perhaps enable some consumers to once again resume buying alcohol beverages and other "affordable luxuries."
In a couple of cases, the bev/al increases were nearly double the Dow Jones Industrials one-day gain of 3.03%. The Dow far outpaced both the S&P 500, which gained 1.58%, and the Nasdaq Composite's 1.44% gain.
There were several factors traders cited to the market increases in general: President Trump's acceptance of the election results. Markets traditionally favor a divided government because it tends to prevent aggressiv e, transformative economic or regulatory legislation. Also, oil prices plunged after investors reacted to Vice President JD Vance attributed the Republican bloodbath to the Trump's Iran war and hoped the results will lead to a resolution.
