A couple of weeks ago, while everyone else in the media was assuming Brown-Forman Corp.'s future lay with Pernod Ricard, we asked why the descendants of founder George Garvin Brown would want to sell. Yesterday, in a short statement, Brown-Forman confirmed we were right. But what about Sazerac, which reportedly was putting together a $15 billion all-cash bid?

Scotch Volume Jumps 11% in Control States, Driven by New Hampshire

March Control States spirits sales improved versus February, with 9 liter volume increasing +1.2% and dollar volume decreasing -1.6%, resulting in a -2.8% price mix, National Alcohol Beverage Control Association reports.
