Elijah Craig Innovates the 1800's Bourbon & Branch
Bourbon & Branch was my Mother's favorite drink. "Branch," of course, was plain water. Elijah Craig is promoting a cocktail it's calling "Branch Water." It sounds like an RtD, and maybe it should be, but it's a do-it-yourself blend of bourbon, water, a squeeze of grapefruit and a bit of cucumber bitters. Here's the receipe, developed by Lynn House, portfolio mixologist:
Elijah Craig Branch Water
Ingredients:
- 1.5oz Elijah Craig Small Batch Bourbon
- 1oz fresh squeezed grapefruit juice (or a fresh-squeezed citrus of choice)
- 4oz spring water (limestone-filtered or other; avoid tap or distilled)
- 5 dashes of cucumber bitters
- Garnish: citrus peel
Method: Build the cocktail in a rocks glass, adding all ingredients and topping with ice. Stir, garnish with a citrus peel and enjoy!
