MGP Launches MGP Bourbon
MGP, which has only sold to other distillers, is launching MGP, its first-ever namesake brand, bringing the legendary distiller’s whiskey and spirits expertise directly to consumers under its own name for the first time.
The launch coincides with the return of the MGP Distillery name to the historic Lawrenceburg. Inc., operation, marking a new chapter for the operation.
The brand debuts with MGP Chapter One: Out of the Shadows, a limited-edition, 10-year-old straight bourbon whiskey that pays tribute to MGP’s decades-long influence on American whiskey and the craftsmanship behind some of the industry’s most acclaimed spirits.
Bottled at 111 proof, MGP Chapter One: Out of the Shadows is crafted from the distillery’s historic LBSV mashbill of 60% corn, 36% rye and 4% malted barley. Master Distiller Ian Stirsman selectively blended barrels aged for a full decade in Rickhouse G, one of the distillery’s most celebrated warehouses, to showcase the character of MGP’s signature high-rye whiskey.
The launch also coincides with the return of the MGP Distillery name to the historic Lawrenceburg, Indiana operation, marking a new chapter for the iconic distillery and reconnecting it with the name long recognized by retailers, distributors, collectors and enthusiasts as a mark of quality.
MGP Chapter One: Out of the Shadows debuts at Kentucky Bourbon Festival this weekend and will then be available in limited quantities nationwide this fall for a suggested retail price of $69.99 per 750mL bottle.
