Ty Iechyd Da Distillery, Springfield, Mo., announced the release of an official Centennial Spirits Line. The distillery is releasing unique products as the Official Spirit of the Route 66 Centennial.
“Birthplace of Route 66 Centennial Spirits” is offered at 100 proof in homage to the Route 66 Centennial Kickoff Celebration (1926-2026). This spirit line includes four offerings: bourbon, gin, vodka, and agave spirit, and was crafted to honor a century of American adventure.
Capturing the timeless freedom that the Mother Road has represented for 100 years and counting. The spirits will be available at all Ty Iechyd Da Distillery and Springfield Brewing Co. brand locations and fine local retail partners.
“Ghost of the Colonial Hotel Centennial Blend,” releasing April 17 (417 Day for the locals), is a limited release of 752 bottles at 108 proof. This exclusive blend of eight bourbon barrels, ranging in age and finish, is as unique as the history that it commemorates.
A single telegram sent on April 30, 1926, by businessmen John T. Woodruff and Cyrus Avery from the Colonial Hotel in Springfield is credited with sparking the "Spirit of America" by designating the official route for Route 66, the first major highway connecting Chicago to Los Angeles.
This message officially created the "Mother Road" that fueled American mobility and westward migration. .
“Route 66 has always been about spirit, freedom, and exploration,” said Neil Chanter, co-owner of Ty Iechyd Da Distillery and Springfield Brewing Company. “The Mother Road is, itself, a representation of America striving to pursue something better, something different. Springfield should be rightly proud of this incredible history. And now, it’s time to CELEBRATE!”
“When we opened the distillery, next door to our longstanding brewery, we wanted to contribute something truly unique to Springfield,” said Christina Chanter, co-owner. “For us, the opportunity to support both the Birthplace of Route 66 Centennial Celebration and the Ghost of the Colonial Hotel history and sculpture installation ‘fit the bill.’ We are able to celebrate this unique and special corner of the world that we are lucky enough to call home.”
