Wes Henderson is Out as CEO Due to Allegations of Sexual Misconduct
Wes Henderson, co-founder of Angel's Envy, and CEO of TKC Distilling, the company behind The Kentucky Castle, the landmark resort he bought in 2023 for $19 million, and True Story Whiskey has been fired.
He is accused of secretly firming dozens of family members and guests at the Castle and his Florida vacation home.
“Wes unequivocally denies the allegations in the lawsuit,” his attorney said in a statement to the Lexington Herald-Leader, which first broke the story. “It is our understanding that the complaint will be voluntarily dismissed. If that does not happen, he is prepared to vigorously defend himself.”
Kyle Henderson, one of his sons, will assume CEO duties while the company conducts “a full and independent investigation,” said Charity Bird, an attorney for TKC Distilling.
“The company remains committed to addressing the matter responsibly and to ensuring that the investigation is conducted thoroughly and fairly,” she said.
In a civil lawsuit, family members accuse Henderson of invasion of privacy and voyerism. They say they discovered the hidden cameras including devices capable of live streaming, while vacationing at his home near Melbourne, Fla.
According to the lawsuit, the footage show people in various stages of undress, using the restroom and engaged in sexual activity. Some of the cameras were disguised as fire alarms. clocks, speakers, fans, charging blocks and outlet extenders. One was installed in a bathroom air vent above a toilet, the lawsuit says.
Forty people were allegedly recorded without their knowledge by the cameras. The lawsuit also alleges the footage shows Henderson installing the cameras and positioning them to record beds. Others filmed Henderson having sex with women other than his wife as well as other adults engaging in sexual activity, according to the Lexington Herald-Leader.
Henderson is a member of the Kentucky Bourbon Hall of Fame. No criminal charges have been filed thus far.
