Some Bay Area wineries will soon ask you to return bottles after drinking

To some drinkers, surely, it will sound like an inconvenience. But creating a circular economy for wine bottles in California could potentially be revolutionary, advocates say. More and more, producers here are reckoning with the significant carbon footprint of single-use bottles, the dismal rates of recycling throughout the U.S. and, lately, the soaring cost of glass.
